Welcome to Coordinated Training Services for prevention (CTS), a professional service of Workers Assistance Program, Inc.

Background

Effective 9/1/2004, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA) established the Coordinated Training Services (CTS). CTS coordinates the statewide prevention training for evidence-based prevention programs and coalitions, strengthening and expanding the prevention infrastructure. CTS coordinates vital training in each prevention domain. Training is provided on the latest prevention technology, research and best practice approaches to encourage and support effective implementation of evidence based prevention programs at the local level. Workers Assistance Program, Inc. is proud to have been selected by DSHS to operate the CTS

How to Schedule Training

How to Schedule:

1) Determine if the curriculum you want training for is a DSHS-approved curriculum (click here to see list of DSHS-Approved Curricula).

2) Determine your eligibility for training as an organization (click here for information on eligibility for Coordinated Training Services).

3) Check CTS website to see if a training has been scheduled in your region or other regions. You can register to attend training in other regions.

4) If no training events for the DSHS-approved curriculum you need are currently scheduled, contact you Prevention Resource Center (PRC) to let them know your training needs. Your PRC will need to know the name of the DSHS-approved curriculum, how many people your organization wants trained, and whether or not your organization is DSHS-funded for YPU, YPS, YPI, or CCP program(s).

Training Fees

For Training Participants who follow steps 1 through 4 of “How to Schedule a Training”:

a) Registration is free for employees of organizations that are DSHS-funded for YPU, YPS, YPI, or CCP program(s) and for persons implementing this curriculum in collaboration with a DSHS-funded YPU, YPS, YPI, or CCP program*.

b) A per person fee applies for persons who are not employees of organizations that are DSHS-funded for YPU, YPS, YPI, or CCP program(s) and for persons who are not implementing the DSHS-approved curriculum in collaboration with a DSHS-funded YPU, YPS, YPI, or CCP program*.

c) When materials are required, there will not be a charge for DSHS funded participants.

*The collaborating entity must have been listed in the DSHS-funded proposal for YPU, YPS, YPI program(s) or must be a representative of the funded CCP program(s).
