Course Description
By the end of this course, participants will be able to define
characteristics associated with sexual minorities and elements of
sexuality in general; discuss the multifaceted nature of sexual
identity; and discuss the risk for HIV infection among LGBTQ persons.
They will also be able to discuss the risk for substance abuse among
LGBTQ persons, conduct an agency-specific needs assessment concerning
the needs of LGBTQ clients, and finally demonstrate increased
sensitivity toward and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender and queer persons.
CEU Credit
3 Alcohol & Drug- Related Culture credits will be provided for
participants who complete the entire training. However, no partial
credit will be given for incomplete courses. Certificates of Completion
will be awarded to participants at the end of the training. Continuing
Education Units are provided for Licensed Chemical Dependency
Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors and Social Workers.
Sponsors may apply for other types of credits.
