Motivational Interviewing (Two-Day Version)
Course Description
By the end of this course, participants will be able to define motivational interviewing,
describe the stages of change and how they relate to motivational interviewing, list and describe the principles underlying motivational interviewing, and list and implement the five early strategies of motivational interviewing while demonstrating reflective listening techniques.
This two-day course is an introduction to the counselor-guided, client-centered counseling approach intended to help clients express, experience, explore and resolve ambivalence about behavioral change. In addition to achieving the objectives listed above, this training will offer participants many opportunities to practice their new counseling strategies and skills.
CEU Credit
14 Alcohol & Drug- Specific credits will be provided for participants who complete the entire training, However, no partial credit will be given for incomplete courses. Certificates of Completion will be awarded to participants at the end of the training. Continuing Education Units are provided for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors and Social Workers. Sponsors may apply for other types of credits.
