By the end of this course, participants will be able to define chemical dependency/addiction, identify the approaches and goals of treatment, and define recovery. They will also be able to identify the stages of change and stages in the developmental model of recovery and define relapse based upon these models. Participants will be able to define relapse prevention and identify principles to help clients avoid relapse, and recognize the intersection between relapse and HIV. Finally, participants will be able to apply basic counseling skills in order to work with clients in various stages of recovery to avoid relapse.
CEU Credit
6 Alcohol & Drug -S Related credits will be provided for
participants who complete the entire training. However, no partial
credit will be given for incomplete courses. Certificates of Completion
will be awarded to participants at the end of the training. Continuing
Education Units are provided for Licensed Chemical Dependency
Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors and Social Workers.
