This year's CBAF DSHS MHSA 5th Annual Conference in Corpus Christi will be a bit different for HEI program case managers and supervisors. We have made some schedule changes and clearly indicated some required meetings and trainings which have been specifically designed for the HEI track. The list below captures the changes and required sessions. This year: ** We are having an HEI luncheon meeting with a presentation by Doug Denton the Exec. Dir. of Homeward Bound. They are making some positive program changes in FY11 and will provide us with this info and how to refer clients, as well as more detailed information on the clients served this past year. Lunch will served and so will CEUs. THIS IS FOR SUPERVISORS PLUS ONE DIRECT STAFF, BY INVITATION ONLY. I will not be scheduling individual meetings with any of the HEI programs unless requested. Calling Attention to Urgent Global Issues

World Population Day was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989 as a way to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. It was an outgrowth of the interest generated by the Day of Five Billion, which was observed on 11 July 1987.

Each year UNFPA selects a different theme to rally around. World Population Day 2010, Everyone Counts, will underscore the importance of data for development. It will foster an understanding of why reliable, disaggregated data is so crucial to progress and encourage people to participate in the census and other data collection efforts.

People around the world observe World Population Day in different ways. Many UNFPA Country Offices and other institutions mark the day with celebrations, poster or essay contests, sports events concerts or other activities to bring attention to population issues.

**2010 Border Violence Prevention Conference September 14th 16th, 2010

The goal of the conference is to increase community awareness and readiness of the current state of border violence, substance abuse and disastrous events. It will bring into focus the unique circumstances of the border area and disseminate resources to law enforcement, counselors, prevention providers, educators and community organizers in building an Antiviolence Alliance.
